Cat Product & Sourcing Glossary
Use these definitions to make your product brief more precise. A material name or sourcing term describes an option; it does not establish the specification, performance or order terms of an individual product.
Snuffle mat
- A mat with folds, pockets or fabric strips that hide small treats for searching. Specify pocket layout, fabric construction, cleaning access and intended use.
Sisal
- A plant-derived fiber used in woven mats and wrapped scratching surfaces. Specify weave or rope construction, backing, edge binding and attachment method.
Felt
- A textile formed by consolidating fibers rather than weaving them. Felt can use different fiber compositions; state composition, thickness and panel construction in your brief.
Corrugated refill
- A replacement corrugated-cardboard scratching insert made to fit a particular base or holder. Confirm profile, dimensions, orientation and compatibility; refills are not automatically interchangeable.
OEM
- Original equipment manufacturing. In sourcing discussions, this usually means producing to a buyer-specified design or specification. Confirm who owns drawings, tooling and design changes.
ODM
- Original design manufacturing. In sourcing discussions, this usually means adapting a supplier-developed design. Agree the permitted changes, responsibilities and any exclusivity in writing.
Private label
- Selling a product under the buyer’s brand, using agreed branding and packaging. Private label can accompany an existing design or a wider OEM/ODM project.
MOQ
- Minimum order quantity: the smallest order accepted for the agreed product version. Ask whether it applies per SKU, color, material, packaging run, unit or set.
RFQ
- Request for quotation: a structured request for price and order terms. Include the product specification, quantities, destination, packaging and sample requirements.
Sample approval
- A documented review of the proposed product version before order confirmation. Record accepted dimensions, construction, appearance, packaging and any required revisions.
