How to Build a Cat Enrichment Collection

Choose a focal product, add complementary play and connect the range through color, packaging and your customer’s needs.

A coordinated display of a felt tunnel, cardboard scratcher and compact felt toy set

Build a cat enrichment collection around one focal product, complementary activities and coordinated packaging. Start with your sales channel and the cat’s everyday routine, then compare product dimensions, set contents and sample options.

The AAFP and ISFM Feline Environmental Needs Guidelines identify safe places, separate resources and opportunities for play as parts of a healthy feline environment. One of their pillars is “Provide opportunity for play and predatory behavior.” This supports offering different activities across a range; it does not establish the suitability of any individual product.

Start with your customer

Consider the cats and owners you are designing for. An indoor-cat collection might include a place to hide, a dedicated scratch surface and a toy for shared play. A subscription edition has a different brief: compact items, an engaging theme and a pack that feels worth opening. Define your sales channel before choosing the assortment.

Choose a focal piece

A tunnel, a shaped scratcher or a hideout can give the collection a recognizable starting point. Choose the product that best expresses your brand’s design language. Think about its color, shape and presentation alongside the space it takes in an online listing or a store display.

Add a different way to play

Complement the focal piece rather than repeating it. A felt tunnel and a felt ball set offer different interactions. A scratch bed and a foraging mat introduce different textures. MewToys groups the assortment into Explore, Scratch, Forage and Chase to make these relationships easier to see.

Connect the presentation

A shared palette, matching labels and a consistent packaging approach can connect products with different constructions. Discuss how each pack will appear on your channel: a hanging card for compact toys, a sleeve for a set or assembly information for a larger item. Coordination does not require every product to look identical.

Turn the selection into a brief

Save the SKUs you want to discuss. Add your destination market, approximate quantity and any material, color or packaging preferences. Request specifications and sample information for that selection, then compare the physical products and their presentation before agreeing your order.

Compare three starting assortments

Sales channelStarting selectionWhat to compare
Home-focused pet brandA01 tunnel, A04 scratch bed, B01 felt ballsCoordinated colors, individual packs and replacement-insert identification
Independent retailerA06 foraging mat, B02 wand, B01 felt ballsShelf space, hanging or boxed formats and customer instructions
Subscription boxB01 felt balls with selected B02 attachmentsBox dimensions, attachment contents, set count and insert-card space

Use these combinations as starting points rather than fixed bundles. A 40 cm wand requires a different box from a compact ball set. Check the packed size of each item before committing to your box format, and request attachment-only options where useful.
